Bridging the Gap By Russell Pell

 MG_6633

Ben Wilson surfs, he surfs everyday he possibly can and as a result he is pretty bloody good at it. This passion and addiction for riding the waves has seen him take to kitesurfing with vigour and style. He has been involved in many different roles within the industry from magazine editor, sponsored rider, moviemaker and now he is putting his name to a kite brand. Wilson has helped shape the sport with a clear vision of what he wanted to see it evolve into. He is now spearheading a company Ben Wilson Surf (BWS). BWS has it’s sights set firmly on convincing surfers that the best thing to do when the waves are blown out is to walk back to the car, grab a kite, light that puppy up and get back out there.

The Josh Mulcoy story by Jason Wolcott

IMG 2408

Surf kiting has been molded and shaped by a select few riders over the past ten years to become what it is today. The Unknown Road to Micronesia

"The last few days I have been a bit depressed, since arriving back from Micronesia I have realized that maybe it just doesn’t get any better than that, after all my years of traveling, surfing and kiting, that Place might just be the best place I have ever visited”

Big claims indeed but when they are coming from Ben Wilson; you tend to listen as he has spent most of his life in the pacific searching for waves and wind. Wilson has traveled to most islands that you can name and lived and worked for a couple of years on Namotu.

Kitesurfing at Namotu Island, Fiji

Namotu-hero

I have said it before and I will say it again – Namotu island in Fiji is my favourite travel destination for so many reasons, epic surf, warm water, consistent trade-winds, great fishing, cool people, huge parties and of coarse world class Kitesurfing, not to mention that when your there it’s your own personal frickin island to do what ever the hell you like, whenever you like – hence no rules Namotu!

Indonesia – the land of the perfect wave

indonesia-kitesurfing5-1024x682

The ultimate reward in both surfing and kiting is the tube ride; nothing compares. Sure getting a tube on your kite may seem almost impossible and is still un-comparable to surfing, but it does have potential and the search is on to find the perfect wave to let us do it.
